Cougar Technical Services Ltd was established in 1994 by CEO, and proud member of the Metis Nation of Alberta, Rod Stagg. Originally growing up in Edmonton, AB, Rod’s parents decided to move to Calgary, AB for more employment opportunities. Spending his remaining years growing up in Calgary, he decided to settle, and entered the trades business in 1978. Rod would go on to start a family and he was determined to open his own Mechanical Contracting business.

 

Starting out of a home office, with only a handful of employees, his mother taking calls and typing invoices, Rod eventually grew and expanded the business, while focusing on the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) markets. Performing on-demand service, facility maintenance and equipment retrofit work, Cougar Technical Services quickly established a reliable reputation building strong, lasting relationships with Clients, of whom Rod considers his Friends. Eventually, Cougar grew into the successful and reliable company it is today while still keeping the feel of a small family run business.

Most recently, the Cougar Technical Services family has welcomed industry expert, Scott Grobel as company president in July of 2019, adding to Cougar’s unparalleled base of knowledge in the Mechanical Industry. During their 4-decade careers Rod and Scott have been involved with numerous industry associations and memberships, including sitting on the board of: The Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada, the Mechanical Service Contractors Association of Canada, the Calgary Construction Association and the Mechanical Contractors Association of Alberta.

 

While they were shaping the Mechanical Industry, Rod also served as Chairman for the Mechanical Contractors of Alberta and Scott served as Chairman for the Mechanical Service Contractors of Canada. Cougar was the 6th Mechanical Contractor in Alberta to become certified as a Gold Standard Service Contractor by the Mechanical Service Contractors Association of Canada – indicating we are the best of the best for Plumbing & HVAC services.
